Do you have to have a subscription to use Disney Story Central?

You can experience Disney Story Central in two ways. The easiest way is to sign up for a Disney Story Central Subscription plan. A subscription plan will give you unlimited access to hundreds of Disney stories for one low monthly price and will auto renew at the end of your current subscription period. The second way to experience Disney Story Central is to purchase Disney Story Central Tokens to unlock the books you want to read. To see available pricing options, purchase a Subscription Plan, or purchase Disney Story Central Tokens, please visit the Shop in the Main Menu.

How does a Disney Story Central Subscription work?

Once you purchase a Disney Story Central Subscription, you’ll have unlimited access to hundreds of Disney stories for one low monthly price and your subscription will auto renew at the end of your subscription period. One-month plans will auto renew every month after your original purchase date. Multi-month subscription plans will auto renew following their set duration on your original purchase date. The cost that will be charged to you during every auto renew period will be the price you paid initially. How do I access books while I’m a Disney Story Central Subscriber?

Once subscribed, you’ll have access to hundreds of Disney Story Central titles. To access them, simply click on the book you’d like to read and select “Read Now”. After tapping “Read Now”, the book will download on the device, progress of which can be seen on the cover. Once a book is ready to be read, the cover will sparkle. The book will then become accessible directly through the character carousel and under the section “My Library”. “My Library” contains all the books that you’ve downloaded as a subscribed user or unlocked using Disney Book Tokens or a Disney Code. “My Library” will arrange the titles in the order of last read. Books in “My Library” with the Disney D in the bottom right corner are books that have either been entitled to you via a promotion or been purchased by you prior to starting your subscription plan. These books will remain with you even after your subscription plan has ended. All other books (those without a Disney D in “My Library") are leased to you while you have an active subscription. Once your subscription is canceled, you will no longer have access to these titles.

How do I manage my Disney Story Central Subscription?

iOS

In order to modify your subscription, you must change your account settings in the App Store, per Apple policy. This is the only way that you can upgrade your subscription, turn off automatic renewal, or cancel your subscription. For details on how to manage your subscription, please visit the Apple Support Page.
To upgrade your subscription, please review the renewal options and then select your desired subscription plan. The current subscription that you have purchased will continue until the end of your current subscription period. You will then be placed into the new subscription plan that you have selected.
To turn off automatic renewal, please visit the auto renewal section and adjust the setting. With a subscription plan, you will continue to be charged until this option is turned off.

Android

Your subscription plan can only be modified in the Google Play Store, per Google policy. Visit the Google Play Store to change your payment method, view your subscription renewal date, or cancel your subscription plan. For details on how to manage your subscription, please visit the Google Support Page.
To update your subscription plan, first cancel your current plan and then purchase a new subscription of your choice after your current plan has ended.

Amazon Digital Subscription Service (United States ONLY)

If you purchased your subscription through Amazon's Digital Subscription Service (only available in the United States), please visit Amazon's Subscription Manager Page. Here you can change your payment method, view your subscription renewal date, or cancel your subscription plan. If you would like to upgrade or downgrade your subscription with Amazon's Digital Subscription Service, you must first cancel your current plan, wait for your paid subscription to expire, and then purchase the new subscription plan of your choice. How do I cancel my Disney Story Central Subscription?

We’re sorry to see you go! If you are canceling BEFORE the end of a free trial, you will not be charged for the remainder of your subscription plan as long as you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of your free trial. If you are canceling AFTER your free trial or in the middle of your current subscription period, you will be charged for the remainder of your purchased subscription. You will not be charged for any additional periods as long as you cancel at least 24 hours before your current period ends.

Per Apple policy, your subscription can only be cancelled by changing your account settings in the App Store. For details on how to access your account settings please visit the Apple Support Page OR follow the directions below to cancel your Disney Story Central subscription:

  1. Visit the App Store on your mobile device.
  2. Select Featured at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Scroll down and tap the Apple ID button in the lower left-hand corner. If you haven’t signed in yet, tap Sign In.
  4. Tap View Apple ID.
  5. Enter your password, then hit OK.
  6. Scroll down and locate Manage App Subscriptions. If you don’t have any subscriptions, you won’t see this option.
  7. Select your Disney Story Central subscription.
  8. Move the slider to the OFF position.
  9. Tap Turn Off to confirm.

What are Disney Book Tokens?

Disney Book Tokens are used to unlock books within Disney Story Central for people who wish to buy books one at a time. Most books can be unlocked for one Disney Book Token, although some titles do cost more. The token system lets parents empower their children to choose books that interest them and add books to their bookshelf without going through the purchase process. As a parent, simply purchase Disney Book Tokens in the shop (accessed through the main menu), and then assign tokens to your child’s account.

Subscribed users have access to hundreds of books without the need for tokens. Parents, as well as children, will be able to read titles by simply clicking the book they’d like to read and selecting “Read Now”. Visit the “Subscription Information” section for more information about Disney Story Central Subscriptions.

How can I unlock books?

If the field under your reader name says “Token User” and you already have Disney Book Tokens, simply select a book and click the green Unlock button. The book will open and be added to the “My Books" section. If you do not have Disney Book Tokens, go to the Menu and select Shop. There, you will have the option to buy tokens in convenient packages.

How can I manage and share my Disney Book Tokens?

From the Menu, select Manage Readers. In this window, you can distribute tokens from the main profile to all of the readers in your account. Click the Plus button to give tokens to a reader from the main profile. Select the Minus button to remove tokens from a reader and return them to the main profile.

I just purchased Disney Book Tokens but they didn’t appear in my child’s profile. Where did they go?

Disney Book Tokens are assigned to the primary profile by default, which allows parents to distribute them to their children at their discretion. In the Menu, select Manage Readers to distribute tokens.

My child unlocked a book by mistake. Can I have a token refund?

What are Starter Packs?

Starter Packs are themed packs, hand-picked by our Disney Team. They can be used to quickly unlock new titles featuring your child’s favorite Disney characters.

How can I restore my purchases?

If you have a Disney Account, all of your in-app purchases and entitlements are automatically kept in sync. When you login using your Disney Account on a new device, all of your previous purchase and entitlements will automatically be recognized.

Can I read my books when not connected to the internet?

You must be connected to the internet to access DisneyStoryCentral.com. To read books while offline, consider downloading our mobile app.

On the mobile app, offline mode will allow users (who are not connected to the internet) to read books, which have been previously downloaded. For more information on how to download books to your device please visit the section entitled “How do I add or remove books from my device?”

How do I add or remove books from my device?

When you select the green "Unlock Button" as a token user or select the “Read Now” button as a subscriber, books are downloaded on your device and can be viewed under “My Books” or “My Library” respectively.

To remove books from your device, select “See all” in the top right corner of the “My Books”/“My Library” carousel. Next, select the blue “Waste Bin” icon in the top right corner of the “My Books”/“My Library” banner. You can now select the titles you’d like to delete by tapping the red 'X' on each book title. Taping a red 'X' deletes a title from your device but you can always re-download it by hitting the download icon now available for the deleted title.

What Types Of Books Does Disney Story Central offer?

Disney Story Central offers a variety of different book types within its library. These titles can range in length, reading ability, cost, and functionality. A book’s functionality can range from the inclusion of audio to allowing a user to adjust the size of the text within the book. Each book is unique in terms of its functionality so please make sure to read a book’s description and/or view the sample provided to ensure each purchase you make works well for you.

How do I view all the books in “My Books” or “My Library”?

To view all the books in “My Books”/“My Library” select “See All” in the top right corner of the “My Books”/“My Library” carousel. The books contained in “See All” are all stored on your device. To remove books from your device, please see section titled “How do I add or remove books from my device?”.

Why are some books only available in the App?

Unfortunately, a few of our titles are only accessible in the Disney Story Central app. We apologize for the inconvenience but feel the reading experience for these titles is best enjoyed on your personal device. When you use Disney Tokens to redeem these titles on the web, simply log in to your Disney ID to access these books in the App. For more information please visit the section called "Accessing books from other devices”.

Why can’t I read any of my books after updating the app?

If you are experiencing any issues reading your books after upgrading the Disney Story Central app, we apologize! This can be fixed in just a few easy steps:

  1. Select “See All” in the top right corner of the “My Books”/“My Library” carousel.
  2. Select the blue “Waste Bin” icon in the top right corner of the “My Books” banner.
  3. Remove every book by tapping the red ‘X’ on each book title.
  4. Hit the download icon now present on each book and re-download them.

Your books should now be working properly. These steps only need to be completed once. Any new title you purchase should work just fine. You can also uninstall and reinstall the Disney Story Central app on your personal device to repair any book issues that you may be facing. How do I sign up for Disney Story Central?

If you have already registered for a Disney Account from one of our Disney family of websites (Infinity.Disney.com, DisneyMovieRewards.com, ESPN.com, DisneyStore.com), you can use your existing member name and password to sign in to Disney Story Central.

If you have not already registered for a Disney Account, you can easily sign up for free on DisneyStoryCentral.com or via the Disney Story Central app. Simply select “Login/Sign-Up” and follow the onscreen instructions.

Users must be 13 years or older to sign-up. Age restrictions vary by region.

What are the benefits of registering with a Disney Account?

A Disney Account lets you easily access your books from another personal device or a Mac and PC computer, portable media device, or e-reader device via DisneyStoryCentral.com. All of your stories and token purchases are securely saved and can be recovered should you lose or damage your device. In addition, when you join Disney Story Central with a Disney Account, you’ll be rewarded with free books to help you grow your family’s story collection even faster. And of course, a Disney Account unlocks all of the magic of Disney at many websites and apps including Disney Movies Anywhere, Disney Infinity, ESPN.com, and more.

How can I upgrade from a Guest to a Disney Account?

As a Guest, you can choose to register at any time by tapping “Register Now!” from the app’s main menu. Either sign-in with your existing Disney Account credentials or create a new Disney Account for free. Once you’ve registered, you’ll still get to keep any stories, family profiles, and/or trophies that you created as a Guest. But now, you’ll also get access to the additional benefits that come with your Disney Account.

How many readers can I add to my Disney Account?

At present, there is a limit of 5 readers allowed per Disney Story Central account.

Why are you asking for information about my children?

Disney will use this information (name, gender and age) to recommend books your child will love. This information will not be shared.

How does my child earn stars and trophies?

Every time your child finishes a book, they collect stars that help them progress through a series of reader rankings. Additionally, for completing specific tasks, your child will be awarded trophies. The My Stats page, accessible from the Menu, acts as a personal scoreboard for readers to keep track of all of their rewards and trophies.

How can I read my books from another mobile device?

The easiest and safest way to access your books from another device is by logging in to the Disney Story Central App using your Disney ID. Simply tap on the “Login/Register” button on the main menu and sign in. Once logged in, all of your available purchases and entitlements will automatically be recognized.

If you do not already have a Disney ID account, tap the “Login/Register” button on the main menu to sign up. Once registered, you’ll get to keep any books, family profiles, and/or trophies that you created as a Guest. But now, you’ll also get access to the additional benefits that come with your Disney ID Account, including accessing your books from other devices. MESSAGE FOR iOS iCloud USERS: iOS users may also us iCloud to access their content on another iPhone or iPad device. To access your books using iCloud, activate iCloud on each device and install the Disney Story Central app on each device, using the same Apple ID. When you open the Disney Story Central app from another iOS device, the app will detect that there is a Disney Story Central account stored on iCloud. The app will then offer to use your saved account on the device. (SPECIAL NOTE: Accessing a Disney Story Central account on iCloud will overwrite any Guest Account data saved on the individual device. This may result in the loss of purchases if a purchase was made under a guest account prior to merging with the iCloud account. Purchases made from the saved iCloud account will be the only purchases that remain intact. How can I read my books on another non mobile device?

DisneyStoryCentral.com allows users to access their books from another personal device, Mac and PC computer, portable media device, or e-reader device. Simply log in to your Disney ID account, to access your material.

How do I access localized content?

To access localized content on your device:

Please select the language preference on your device that matches the language in which you'd prefer to read content. For more information on how to change the language preference on your device please visit https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204031 for iOS users OR consult the user manual of your Android device (as Android settings differ by device).

To access localized content on the web:

Please select the language preference in your browser to match the language in which you'd prefer to read content. You can also use the “Select your language” feature at the bottom of the Disney Story Central webpage to change the featured book content to the language you prefer.

What localized content is available to me?

Disney Story Central currently offers content in the following languages:

  • English (US)
  • Parisian French
  • Italian
  • German
  • Castilian Spanish
  • Dutch
  • Danish

In order to illustrate whether a book exists in one language or multiple languages, language identifiers are displayed below most titles. Books identified as “Multi-Language” allow users to choose between purchasing an English version or a translated version of a book, as some translated content may lack an audio component.

Where can I find localized content?

Localized content in Disney Story Central is always prioritized at the front of each carousel and is featured in an exclusive language carousel on the main page. Due to the limited amount of localized content, English content will still be made available to all users.

If I buy a book in a specific language, will I also get the book in English?

At this time, each book title is independent and therefore must be purchased separately. If you have purchased a version of a book in error, please contact Help & Guest Services at GuestServices@DisneyStoryCentral.com.

Why does the English version of the app display different material than the localized version?

The best place to discover new banners, featured book content, and more is through the English version of Disney Story Central. However, our team is working to update banners and featured book content for localized regions as often as possible.

How do I turn on or off Push Notifications?

Push Notifications allow Disney Story Central to keep you up to date on the latest book releases, updates, and troubleshooting tips.

If you’d like to turn Push Notifications on or off, please use the following instructions:

  • For iOS users, select Settings > Notifications, select Disney Story Central, and toggle Notifications On or Off depending on your preference. Visit the Apple Support Page for more information.
  • For Android users, select Settings > Select Apps, select Disney Story Central and tap Show Notifications to disable push notifications.

How Is My Personal Information Used?
